Purple Roses

This mini measures 4" x 4" X 1.5", needs no frame. I paint a lot of gallery wrap canvases....just extend the painting onto the sides. Try one....you will love it!

I actually have a lavender rose "tree" growing in a pot, just outside our front door. On the other side, I have a white one. The roses and the jasmine that grow on the entry columns, have a scruptious perfume and are very inviting. I planted dahlias, lavender, rosemary, lilies, daisies, hydrangeas, and more; everything is blooming....my little "sensory" garden! I can't wait to paint more of these sweet flowers.

Plant something for yourself and enjoy...small or large, in the ground or in pots...you will be so happy that you did. Enjoy your day!

Florida Palms

Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the states ravished by deadly storms and tornadoes this week. I grew up in Oklahoma and know the lifetime fear instilled by those big storms.
This is a typical hazy morning here on the Atlantic coast, with sun and graceful palm trees gently blowing in the sea breeze. I hope your day is full of promise...go make it a great day!

You can see this painting in my etsy store:  www.etsy.com/store/trudybeardlazaroe

Cup o' Tea

Hi all...what a beautiful and busy day! Now it's time to relax with a cup of tea. This little teacup is one I found in an antique shop somewhere in my travels. It is irridescent light blue on the outside and pearly gold on the inside; stamped on the bottom with "Made in Japan". I just love it and my tea tastes even better in it! Of course, I had to place a rose from my garden in the set-up and paint it. You can look for it in my Etsy store. trudybeardlazaroeblogspot.com

Hope your Easter is wonderful! I am hoping my white lilies will bloom tomorrow...T.

I just returned from Southern California where I taught for three days. Everyone had gorgeous and huge roses and this is just one of the beautiful roses that I saw. This vibrant yellow is one I hope to paint soon. Notice the early morning sun shining through the petals.

Purple Petunias

Here are my purple "Wave" petunias. They are just starting and soon they will spread! They surround my water fountain and I see them from my window.

This has been a beautiful day here on the coast... my favorite day of the week! I participate in a class at the Daytona Art League; it is a time for "me". Three hours of uninterupted painting surrounded by friends and support, encouragement and learning. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better....my husband made shrimp and pasta!!! More painting in my studio tonight while I watch "Idol"...yes, I am hooked! What a perfect day.  :)

Rose on Paper

My roses have inspired me, I guess. Here is a 4 x 12, covered with handmade paper. I love the long shaped canvases.

Another rainy and cool day; perfect for painting in my studio. I cut a sweet yellow rose and maybe I will paint that today too!

Today is my youngest son's birthday!!! Happy Birthday Jeff!

Roses from My Garden

This morning, I cut several roses from my rose garden and placed them in an small, old, wooden carrying crate that I found in the garage....this is the result of my day of painting. This is posted in my etsy store:
www.etsy.com/shop/trudybeardlazaroe.

Everything is in bloom here on the Atlantic coast and I can look out my studio window and see (and hear) my new water fountain, surrounded by wave petunias. If you haven't tried that type of petunia...do and you won't be dissapointed...they spread like crazy.

Lucy

Lucy just came from the groomer...don't know how long the bow will last! She is 5 months old a really cuddley and sweet. This is the second Shih Tzu that we have had and we love the breed; she suits our home life. Maybe, someday I will paint her.

Lone Oak

This 20 x 20 oil painting is all about the misty, soft colors and the lone oak tree. This is an impressionistic style that allows the viewer to interpret; very relaxing to look at this lovely scene. Offered at my Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/trudybeardlazaroe.

Stormy Day in Florida

Good Morning! I woke up to loud thunder and decided to get up and start the day; we need the rain, and I love rainy days...especially when I can spend the day painting and creating. What do you like to do on a rainy day?

Here are three new posts...Nest with Feather, Sailboat at Sunset, and Lone Oak. Let me know what you think?

Nest with Feather

I collect birds nests and I am endlessly facinated by the different construction techniques each type of bird uses. Here is the beginning of a series of 16 x 16 oil paintings, with a birds-eye view of these charming little bird homes. What do you collect?
Offered on Etsy store: www.etsy.com/shop/trudybeardlazaroe

Rainy Day in Port Orange

A warm, steady rain lasted all day. This was a perfect day to stay in the studio and paint.

Last evening, I gathered sweet miniature roses from my garden and put them in a little cream pitcher. This morning, I decided to paint my little set-up on a 6"x6" gallery wrapped canvas. My challenge was to allow the vivid roses to dominate the painting, while creating an interesting white pitcher and light background. I think I achieved this by adding subtle color to the background and pitcher and allowing the roses to dominate. This was painted in oils (my favorite medium).

Tomorrow I will open my brand new Etsy shop called Trudy Beard Lazaroe Art.  I will offer this painting and others and some little surprises from time to time. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Also, I hope you will take a minute and check out my website: http://www.trudybearddesigns.com/ AND, if you are on Facebook, look me up and we can be FB friends!
